Chinese Companies Traded in U.S.

Other than investing in H-shares through ETF like FXI from iShares. You can also invest in the Chinese companies traded in the US as ADR on New York Stock Exchange or NASDAQ. Here are some of them:

  • ACH - Aluminum Corp. of China Limited (NYSE:ACH)
    • Traded on both Hong Kong exchange (HKG:2600) as H-share and Shanghai exchange (SHA:601600) as A-share. It is also listed on New York exchange (NYSC:ACH)
    • Products and distributes alumina, primary aluminum, fabricated aluminum products.
    • Mining and purchasing of bauxite (ore of alumina to make aluminum).
    • The only producer of alumina and the largest producer of primary aluminum in China.
  • BIDU - Baidu.com, inc. (Nasdaq:BIDU)
    • The Company provides internet search services. People call it the Google of China.
  • CHL - China Mobile Limited (NYSE:CHL)
    • The company provides mobile telecommunication and related services in China.
    • Number 180 in ranking of Fortune Global 500 in 2007.

 

  • PTR - PetroChina Co. Ltd. (NYSE:PTR)
    • The company operates oil and natural gas business in China.
  • SNP - China Petroleum & Chemical Corp. (NYSE:SNP)
    • The company operates oil and natural gas business in China.
    • The company also produces oil related chemicals for industrial uses.

U.S. Companies doing businesses in China

There are a few US companies doing businesses in China. Here are some of them:

  • MCD - McDonald's Corp. (NYSE:MCD)
    • McDonald is doing very well in the U.S, Europe and Asia market.
    • McDonald plans to open 100 restaurants a year in China.
    • The same-store-sales of the restaurant in Asian grows over 9% in the first quarter of 2007
  • YUM - Yum! Brands Inc. (NYSE:YUM)
    • KFC or Kentucky Fried Chicken is very popular in China.
    • KFC has about 2000 restaurants in over 400 cities of China.
    • The growth of same-store-sales of the KFC in China is 9% in the first quarter of 2007.
    • KFC is increasing the number of their restaurants in China at rate of 200+ a year.
